Okay, after a long hiatus I am coming back to memorizing the book of mark. I must say that it has been a battle to review my verses constantly every day. Sometimes I can do a lot and other times it seems like someone else keeps yanking my brain around and I cannot review. I am going to let my brain rest for a day and see how it goes.

Progress report.

Book of James - Done

Book of Galatians - last chapter coming up

2 Timothy halfway through second chapter

Psalm 103 done

psalm 91 done

Psalm 25 in progress

Mat chapter 24 almost done

Mark has been neglected in my review except on an occasion and I am going to have to do a lot of redo, Boho!

Galatians has been a pain to memorize and its taken me 2 months so far and its driving me wild with frustration.
I am trusting God that I made the right decision memorizing this book, even though I said it would be the last book I would ever get too besides Romans. But lo and behold I am almost done, and truly, I am in love with this book.

I have been a bit discouraged in general and being discouraged can hijack your memory really fast and slow it down to a crawl or slower.

God bless you!

Slowly but surely

I have been neglecting my blogging lately, but I thought I would check in to at least remind myself that I am still going forward, albeit a bit slower than I want to.

Lets see here, okay I am still working on chapter 2 and should be finished in a few days and already chapter 3 is lined up and looking good. I did manage to memorize close to 30 verses in Luke 1, as well as re-memorize Ps 32, 24,46,42 and refresh Mat 5-7. Which needed to be reorganized in my mind, I know all the verses individually, but not as whole chapters anymore.

I decided I may as well just memorize all the Gospels and take inter-minted breaks to memorize other verses or chapters in between. At least that is my long term goal. Lord willing.

I need to pick up the pace though.

Going Forward

Okay, I officially finished chapter one!

Unofficially its still a bit rusty, but I will have it polished up in a couple more days. I will be going on to chapter 2 tomorrow.

I;m not sure why it took me so long to finish it though, Arrg!

Except that if I could use a hammer  to get some of these stubborn verses in I would try it,
 Um mm, maybe not.

Okay nothing exciting to see here, move along.

Moving Right Along.

Okay, this is going to be a unexciting blog entry, but its all good to me as this is pretty much for my own reference and encouragement.

And its nice to have these reference points, so when you finally finish memorizing your book you can look back on them and praise God on how far you've come.

I am about to cement in my brain the first 30 verses of Mark today and I am super thankful, because I thought it was going to be hard, and it wasn't.

So I am only about 12 verses off from having chapter one completed!

Yay!

Thank you Jesus!

Just a reminder, that if you would prefer to memorize the Book of John you can follow and participate  with Heidi on her Blog http://memorizingjohn.blogspot.com/

I'm Back!

After getting tripped off and getting absolutely nothing done on my memory work, I have decided that I am going to get back to my original inspiration, and that is Memorizing the book of Mark.

I'll be starting from scratch again but its all good, I started working on it yesterday and today I will sit down and dedicate a block of time to the first chapter.

How much time? I think I will start out at thirty minutes.

 why?

If I make my initial goals to lofty and fail, then it just fuels the fires of discouargment.

There were times when I was memorizing John in front of the clock. ( not on purpose ) And that I could actually perceive the hands of the clock moving.
I was trying to get in as much memorization time as I could, before I had to start the task of the day. Sometimes 2 hours would fly by !

In other words, once you get the Memorization inspiration, your going to become aware of every idle moment and want to fill it with with either a new memory verse or a chance to review.
There will be times that the clock will tick too fast and you will be sorry that your memory time is over.
Sometimes I have literally went to sleep memorizing and would wake up in the night memorizing, sometimes it wasn't the same thing I was memorizing when I went to sleep. Lol ! I had no idea what it was.

Anyway.

Once you overcome the initial mind war of the flesh telling you "uh, uh I don't want to do this" you feel something kick in and you start going to town.

Its like they say, as with any new task, if you can just get started, you've won half the battle.

I wanted to let you all know, that if you missed your chance to Memorize the Book of John with me.

You can now Join up with Heidi and follow her blog  at http://memorizingjohn.blogspot.com

Its going to be exciting!

If you have been putting it off, well, here is your chance to hop on board!

Memorizing the Book of Mark day 5

Well, since I have had an overwhelming response to join me in my endeavor to memorize the book of Mark  ( not ) I thought I would check in today and let you know how I am doing with it.

So far it has been a little slow going but I am confident that things will pick up.
So far I am almost 20 verses into the first chapter. I am shooting for 5 verses a day but if it averages out to be four, that's cool too. Thank you Jesus!
I calculated that, if I keep going at the pace I am now going I will have the Book of Mark memorized by July.
By the way I am still reviewing my chapters from the book of John, and so far I have been able to keep on schedule of my seven chapter a day review plan, and it seems to working out pretty good so far.

Update!

Guys...... I want to say that I am taking a break from mark for the time being as I am in the process of consolidating all my memory verses into an organized fashion.
I will be coming back to The Book of Mark someday soon. but I think I will be doing some mini projects with some of the smaller epistles starting most likely with Titus. When this begins I will start a blog on this tooo.

The Book of Mark!

Okay someones gonna ask me, why did you choose to memorize the book of mark ?

After memorizing the book of John I had a hard time making up my mind about which book to memorize next. It was a tough decision.

I almost went with Revelations, maybe someday soon but not today.

Actually, Mark was almost last on my list but I decided to put the Bible CD in the player just to see, cause I hadn't heard it in a while and you're  right, it knocked my socks off!!  My mind got blowned!

I just felt that still small voice in my heart saying this is the one, and its such a great balance to John as well.

Okay, so I am missing the beatitudes from Matthew and the birth story from Luke but I can get those later on and maybe do those separately.

Some say Mark is the Gospel according to Peter or that John Mark wrote it from memory, most likely he had it memorized from hearing it so many times or decided it should be written down and thought hey what a great idea!

Either way I am thankful for it and I am going to make it a part of my being and you should too!

I worked a  few verses of  it today, getting a taste for it.

 Guess who showed up?

Yep, the punk showed up, and started in with his doubts and discouragements. Guess what ? I didn't listen to him and you shouldn't either.

Come on Brother, come on Sister, join me in this grand adventure!

Just think, if you would have joined me before, you would have probably have had the book of John memorized like I do now.
And I don't say that to make you feel bad, but to provoke you to Godly jealousy and, to want to be zealously affected toward a good thing................. 2 cor 11:12 - Gal 4:18

Okay Lets do this!
